Installing new kernel

I am planning to install a more recent kernel following the Qubes docs: Managing qube kernels — Qubes OS 4.3.1 documentation

The Kicksecure docs however mentions extra steps (under “Package Installation”):

I’m not sure how mandatory these extra steps are?
Looking at them, I would guess that they are redundant after doing the steps in Qubes docs, but since it is saying “Once the Qubes VM kernel is functional, proceed with the following instructions.” i thought I’d ask just in case.

I suspect that page is out of date. Simply upgrading the the Qubes kernel and rebooting dom0 is enough in my experience. The linux-image-* and linux-headers-* packages installed in the VM will have no effect unless you’re using an in-VM kernel, which is not (yet) supported.
