Thanks to @arraybolt3 in the next release of Kicksecure 17.2.3.9 and above, it will be possible to use D-I (Debian-Installer - Wikipedia , the “console looking” Debian installer) (not calamares!).

Calamares is a free and open-source independent and "distribution-agnostic" system installer for Linux distributions.

D-I is somewhat a “by-product” of switching to build the ISO using Debian live-build (which was done to fix some booting related issues).
Not much (none at time of writing) D-I related development is planned. Main focus will remain Calamares.
