How to use Veracrypt in Kicksecure18?

Do I need to enable the unrestricted admin mode every time I use it? And where is their package these days anyways? I thought I downloaded it from debian repositories few years ago while still using the old non-split Kicksecure. I think it didint co-operate then at all so I gave it a rest, but remember it working flawlessly on vanilla Debian. Need to get Vera up and running now though.

Possibly. A number of users have reported problems with VeraCrypt on Kicksecure after the introduction of user-sysmaint-split:

VeraCrypt was not accepted into the official Debian archives due to licensing concerns. See:

unfortunately I have to reject your package.
According to [1] “(…)TrueCrypt seems to be reserving the right to sue
any licensee for copyright infringement, no matter whether they comply
with the conditions of the license or not. Based on this, our counsel
advised that above and beyond being non-free, software under this
license is not safe to use. (…)”

VeraCrypt provides DEB files for Debian 13, which may work on Kicksecure:

Thank you. I’ll try those DEB files. There was also some package called tcplay which said it was somekind of veracrypt implementation. Has anybody reported anything about its usability?

I’ll write back on how and if those worked.

tc-play is in Debian’s repos, it’s basically a reimplementation of TrueCrypt/VeraCrypt, but under a permissive license that lacks the issues of the original. It seems to have been inactive for six years, but that might (?) not be a huge issue given that the project seems to generally move slowly…
