Kicksecure 17 in dom0: No internet connection

Hello,

I am (still) using Qubes 4.2.4 and I converted the debian-12 template into a kicksecure-17 template using “distribution morphing,” assigning sys-net to the template. The internet connection and everything else is working perfectly.

Now I wanted to test the other method and installed kicksecure-17 via dom0 as well, assigning sys-net to this template. This time, the internet connection does not work. The sdwdate icon appears, but the network manager icon does not, and no connection is being established.

When I reassign sys-net to the “morphed” kicksecure template. It works again.

What is the reason for that?

I actually wanted to install Qubes 4.3 and kicksecure-18, but first I want to test on the 4.2.4 system with kicksecure-17 to see if I’m doing something wrong or, if not, to find out where the error is.

Thank you very much for the answers!

No developer time will be spent on version 17 usability / functionality debugging.

You probably need to install the network-manager-gnome widget and network firmware packages. Compare the list of installed packages from debian-12-xfce to the list of installed packages in kicksecure-17 to identify which packages you likely need.

Oh okay, then it will be the best to install kicksecure-18 immediately. I´ll try to install it in dom0 and we´ll see what happens.
