I have many VM’s but the amount of logical CPU cores decreased after installing Kicksecure on host. Now I can give my VM’s less CPU. After reversing the boot parameters in grub, the cores are back. But I don’t want all boot parameters disabled. Which exact boot parameter is decreasing the logical CPU cores in virt-manager?
Don’t know.
The only way to figure this out is to read what security-misc is doing and reverting that. What it does is described here.
mmio_stale_data=full,nosmt is causing the decrease in logical CPU cores. Seems like pretty old CPUs are vulnerable. But since the vulnerabilities are found not long ago, I’m keeping it on
