Messengers in wiki

I studied all popular secure messengers and found that only Simplex provides not only high anonymity but also high protection (encrypted local storage and self-destruct passcode). This is great for Kicksecure. I think you can copy this page to the Kicksecure wiki SimpleX and add Simplex and Session Use Session Session Private Messenger Chat with Kicksecure ™ to section of recommended messengers Software Recommendations

Or I can add links to the websites of these messengers in the wiki:
[https://simplex.chat/ SimpleX]
[https://getsession.org/ Session]
and maybe:
[https://docs.cwtch.im/ Cwtch]

XMPP/Jabber Client

[https://gajim.org/ Gajim]

Session was given an informal security audit and did very, very poorly. The same cryptographer that did this initial investigation then wrote a followup pointing out some more problems. This same cryptographer also discovered CVEs in Matrix’s encryption, so I think they likely know what they’re doing.

I’ve done quite a bit of research into SimpleX (I actually wrote some of the content that’s now in the page you linked to), and its cryptography has been security-audited with relatively positive results, so I’m pretty hopeful for it.

Wow, it is very interesting. I read his recent articles from 2024-2025, and he also does not recommend XMPP due to weak cryptography and outdated versions of OMEMO Against XMPP+OMEMO - Dhole Moments He writes that Cwtch has not undergone any security audits. He recommends only Signal and Simplex Chat, but he acknowledges the issue of the phone number in Signal. It seems that Simplex is currently the only messenger that does not have account registration issues, encryption problems, works with Tor and the clearnet, and has powerful security features.

Related recent lengthy discussion:

The page about messengers on the Whonix wiki is amazing! I decided to try and change the Kicksecure wiki. I think Cwtch is not suitable for Kicksecure. Kicksecure is an OS for the clearnet and for security. Cwtch only works in Tor and does not have special security features, unlike Simplex. I think Simplex is perfectly suited for Kicksecure at the moment. And maybe XMPP clients. I tried to copy sections from the Whonix wiki to the Kicksecure wiki. I don’t know if I did it right. Check it please. Sorry, if I did something wrong

Please don’t copy/paste contents without prior discussion.

The content needs to be maintained. And that gets difficult if content is duplicated because then both versions will develop in different ways and that will get difficult ot merge.

/wiki/Software is the wrong page. /wiki/Chat would be more suitable.

And if we are doing that, the content needs to be removed from Whonix wiki, only leaving a redirection there. Or contents security (Kicksecure) vs anonymity (Whonix) like for example:

SimpleX already has a dedicated wiki page in Whonix wiki. Page it could be similarly migrated to Kicksecure wiki as it was done with Signal.

But that task is non-trivial and not suitable for first time contributors.

Okay. I’m sorry
