Nested virtualization shortcut keys

Just testing how well does one system inside another works.I noticed in the one nested shortcuts do not work as they apply to the upper level, same with the grab keys. Is there a way to make them work on the nested unit?

Probably depends on the hypervisor, but you can set different “host keys” for each hypervisor installation. I.e., you could probably use Right Ctrl as the host key for an “upper” VirtualBox instance, and use Right Alt as the host key for a “lower” one. See:

Search the page for “host key”.

Imagine a fist level Kicksecure guest on KVM. Everything work fine there, ctrl+alt is the default grab key to move from host to guest and viceversa. Imagine for instance using alt+tab to change windows in one or the other environment.
However if I install KVM again on the Kichsecure guest the grab keys system seems to stop at first level guest.
A similar problem happens on full-screen mode, if I switch the lower level guest to full-screen it loses the ability to revert back to upper level guest (the small top center button to leave full-screen never appears).

In fact I tried to change it to a different combination, I chose ctrl+shift.
Recapping, from host to guest ctrl+alt and from guest to “lower level guest” ctrl+shift.

I even tried to set ctrl+shift instead of the default ctrl+alt on the upper level to see the behavior and it works fine.

I can’t quite tell from this if you mean that using different host keys worked or not. If it did work, great. If not, this probably isn’t the best forum to ask for advice on as this is unspecific to Kicksecure. The VirtualBox forums would be better if you can post there.

True. I am using KVM, not VirtualBox. Thanks though
