If Open ZFS must be used with Kicksecure, what are the things to plan and watch for?

Unknown. Only very minimal research was done into ZFS on Kicksecure and it’s likely quite old:

I will state I have only messed with Btrfs so I can’t say anything for or against ZFS nor how it would behave in and with Kicksecure.
Unsure how accurate that article is. It states (quote):
In 2026, if you format a fresh Fedora, openSUSE, or Ubuntu Desktop installation, you’re running Btrfs by default.
This is false; Ubuntu Desktop ships with ext4 by default.
